“Scotland is divided enough,” said David Stewart MSP.
"And a second referendum will just divide us further and re-open the wounds caused by the last referendum.
"Scotland deserves better.
“Nicola Sturgeon’s SNP government are responsible for an education system with a growing attainment gap between richest and the rest, a health service without a sufficient number of doctors and nurses and an economy that has plunged over 200,000 into a life of poverty.
“ Scotland would be a better place if Nicola Sturgeon stopped dividing the country and gone with the job of governing it.”
“With Brexit looming, our country is facing an uncertain time,” commented Scottish Labour’s Rhoda Grant MSP.
“At this time when we should be pulling together.
Instead, Nicola Sturgeon chooses to pull us apart.”
“Two years ago 85 per cent of Scotland’s voters took part in a ‘once in a generation’ referendum,” concluded Mrs Grant,
“The result was a clear vote to remain in the UK.
“The SNP ignore the settled will of the Scottish people.
“Scottish Labour believes that we together we’re stronger.
“We firmly oppose a second divisive referendum and will vote against the SNP’s proposals next week.”
