David Stewart :
The First Minister will be well aware that people with diabetes are twice as likely to experience depression.
Three quarters of people living with diabetes who wanted specialist mental health support could not get it.
What is the Scottish Government doing to improve support for people living with diabetes, through emotional, psychological and mental health care?
The First Minister:
As David Stewart is aware, because I know that he takes a close interest in this issue, the Scottish Government is carrying out a range of work to help those who have diabetes.
I will ask the mental health minister to write to the member on how we support people with diabetes specifically in relation to mental health challenges because, as he rightly says, that is a significant aspect of what diabetes patients deal with.
I will ask the mental health minister to provide that information as soon as possible.
